The S.C. Landowners Association began in September 2000, as a group of concerned Charleston County landowners wanted to help educate their friends and neighbors about the negative and intrusive effects of a new comprehensive plan that was going to determine the future development of their area. Similar land use concerns quickly spread throughout the Lowcountry and eventually to the doorsteps of landowners in the Midlands and the Upstate.
In November 2001, the South Carolina Landowners Association opened its Columbia office and launched its statewide effort to educate South Carolinians about their property rights And to fight for them.
