The Meaning of the Champlain-Adirondack Biosphere Reserve
Peter LaGrasse presents a map study showing state acquisition
by fee simple and conservation easements of major commercial timber
holdings during recent years, plotted on the Adirondack Park Agency
map of private and government-owned land. The study shows how
the state is closing up the major gaps in state-owned land, making
one huge solid core area that is being depopulated in accordance
with the Champlain-Adirondack Biosphere Reserve program, which
requires no human influence within the core area. Photo:
