Mountain States Legal Foundation Goes Public
that it is the Legal Entity Suing on Behalf of Pennsylvania Oil
and Gas Producers
Mountain States Legal Foundation went public in midsummer that
it is actually the organization that has taken the case of the
Minard Run Oil Company and the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association
to challenge the sweetheart settlement with environmental groups
by the U.S. Forest Service agreeing to require production-killing
NEPA analysis for gas and oil production on retained mineral rights
on land in the Allegheny National Forest. The National Forest
is within the oil-producing region that is the birthplace of oil
production in the United States, long before the oil industry
sold much of their land there to the Forest Service in 1923. Please
