This fund was established in September, 2004, to enable Senior Scholar Robert J. Smith (R.J.) to continue his research and political action on private solutions to conservation problems, forest health, wetlands, endangered species, invasive species, and protecting private property along with the environment. Without making operating funds available to further his work we will lose a valuable ally in our need for multiple use of natural resources with all due respect for private property.
This new fund will be administered by The Competitive Enterprise Institute. CEI will allocate donations of cash or appreciated stock to the fund and distribute to R.J. a monthly stipend based on the funds received. He will be compensated for travel expenses and assisted with support facilities.
Contributions should be marked for "Private Conservation Fund", made payable to Competitive Enterprise Institute, and mailed to 1001 Connecticut Avenue, N.W., Suite 1250, Washington, D.C. 20036.
