The right to own private property is a fundamental American freedom that
guarantees personal liberty and promotes economic prosperity.

December 7, 2009

Dear Friend:

Your devotion to private property rights and to the future of our communities is making it possible for us to carry out this unique grassroots project for nearly sixteen years.

We have been variously credited or blamed for helping many individuals defeat stultifying, preservation-oriented zoning in their home towns; for stopping more than one UN Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site; for helping hunters to continue to carry on their multi-generational way of life on leased camps; for causing critical evaluation of conservation easements and National Heritage Areas, which were once sacrosanct; and even for helping to obstruct the ability of repressive environmental agencies to pretty-over their public image.

Our newsletters are often complimented for getting out cutting edge information. Unlike politicians and organizations that seem to be mainly geared to building image and raising money, we don't jump onto sympathetic causes that other groups are already blasting before the public for the purpose of exploiting their publicity.

Our effort to defend private property rights requires that credit be spread far and wide, to the many people who are involved in the Property Rights Foundation. It is inspiring and incalculably informative to receive the stream of communications from people from New York to Florida to Alaska and even Hawaii, describing what is happening in their own localities.

Like the wonderful individuals who are involved in the work of the Property Rights Foundation, we hearken back to the past and look forward to the future. Looking to the past, we try to be true to the priceless sacrifices and to appreciate the constitutional protections of life, liberty and property that have been bequeathed to us. As we look to the future, we hope to understand the currents that we must either strengthen or counteract to pass on our sacred inheritance.

As the year draws to a close and we celebrate with our families and friends, please also share generously, as you are able, to help continue the mission of the Property Rights Foundation of America, Inc. Your financial help is truly needed and appreciated.

With very best wishes,

Carol W. LaGrasse
