Comments on DEC Wilcox Lake Plan Published

Under the title “DEC’s Insidious Disregard for the People,” Carol LaGrasse completed a lengthy comment on the agency’s draft “unit management plan,” or UMP, for the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest, that region of the three million-acre Adirondack Forest Preserve that extends into Stony Creek, where she resides. After commenting on the single, isolated hearing location and the blackout of the comments that she and Peter LaGrasse, the Chairman of the Stony Creek Board of Assessors and Captain of the Emergency Squad, had made at the pre-planning meeting in 2002, she condemned aspects of the plan ranging from eliminating town roads and active hunting camps occupying buildings in historic communities to hostility to forms of recreation that are not enjoyed by the clientele of the APA and DEC. The commentary has been printed as a twenty-page booklet.
