Prisoner's Rights - New York

In-Depth Information

  • "Constitutionally Protected Integrity" - By Carol W. LaGrasse, Letter to the Editor, published in the Post-Star, Glens Falls, N.Y., January 23, 2011, and published as "Kidney deal unconstitutional" in the Adirondack Journal, Warrensburg, N.Y., January 29, 2011.
The "voluntary" agreement by Gladys Scott, who is incarcerated in a Mississippi prison, to donate a kidney as a condition of parole flies in the face of constitutional protection against "cruel and unusual punishment" and the fundamental protection of "liberty" in her own person, even when incarcerated.
